We're Ben & Gem, the husband-and-wife team behind Mildly Unstable.

It turns out we share three things: a questionable sense of humor, an unhealthy reliance on sarcasm, and absolutely no desire to be normal.

So naturally, we started a T-shirt business.

But there's a little more to it than that.

We've Been There. Got the T-Shirt. Literally.

Life isn't always sunshine, rainbows, and inspirational Instagram quotes.

Sometimes it's messy. Sometimes it's exhausting. And sometimes the only reasonable response is an entirely inappropriate joke.

Between us, we've had our own experiences with ADHD, OCD, PTSD, and the various other ways life can make things considerably more complicated than they need to be.

So when we say we understand the appeal of dark humor, we're not just saying it because it looks good on a T-shirt.

We've lived some of it.

And somewhere along the way, we discovered that sarcasm, inappropriate jokes, and laughing at the absurdity of it all can be surprisingly effective ways of getting through the day.

Not because everything is funny. Some things absolutely aren't.

And not because a funny T-shirt fixes anything. We'd be charging considerably more if it did.

But because sometimes finding the humor in a difficult situation helps take away a little of its power.

We figured we couldn't be the only people who felt that way.

Turns out, we weren't.

This Isn't a Mental Health Brand. It's an Identity Brand.

We're not here to romanticize struggle, glorify breakdowns, or tell you that a positive attitude will magically fix everything.

And we're definitely not putting Live, Laugh, Love on anything.

Mildly Unstable is about recognizing yourself in a joke. That little moment when you read something and think, "Oh God, that's me."

Or, even better, "That's YOU," before immediately buying it for someone else.

We make T-shirts for the self-aware, the sarcastic, the functionally chaotic, and anyone who's realized that pretending to have everything together is wildly overrated.

You don't need a diagnosis, a therapist, or a particularly complicated backstory to appreciate what we do.

Just a sense of humor that's occasionally a little inappropriate.

Our humor might be dark, but the intention is simple: to make people laugh, feel understood, and perhaps start a few conversations they weren't expecting.

Why We Do It

Because we believe a T-shirt should have a bit of personality.

We love creating designs that say what people are thinking but probably shouldn't say out loud.

The kind of shirts that get a second glance at the grocery store, make a complete stranger laugh, or earn you a concerned look from someone who clearly doesn't share your sense of humor.

The ones that make you think, "I need that," followed almost immediately by, "Actually, I know someone who needs that even more."

We put thought into the jokes, care into the designs, and a healthy amount of sarcasm into pretty much everything else.

Our tees are printed and shipped in the USA, and behind the website you'll find two real people who genuinely care about what they're putting out into the world.

Even if what we're putting out into the world is occasionally a bit questionable.

We're not a faceless corporation. We're just two people with a shared sense of humor who decided to see what would happen if we printed it on clothing.

So far, nobody's stopped us.

Just clothing with a little attitude, a lot of personality, and the occasional joke that probably should have stayed inside someone's head.

And if anyone questions your choice of T-shirt, just tell them your therapist approved it.

They probably didn't. But that's between you and your therapist.
